This week are we going back to the year where boybands and girlpower was on the top charts all over the world. We are talking 1995 this week.
On February 10, 1995. One of best selling girl groups of all time was on #3. They has sold over 45 million records worldwide. Their second album, CrazySexyCool (1994), was one of the first albums to be awarded diamond certification and sold over 10 million copies. Billboard ranks the group as one of the greatest musical trios of all time. It`s TLC off course with their single "Waterfalls".
On #2 was an Grammy Award winning American rapper and actor perhaps best known for the hit song "Gangsta's Paradise", a reworking of the Stevie Wonder song Pastime Paradise. The album Gangsta's Paradise is considered a classic west coast Gangsta rap album, thanks to songs like "Exercise Yo Game" and "Geto Highlites." In high school, his nickname was 'Boo'. We`re talking about Coolio with the single "Gangsta`s Paradise" . The single reached number one in the U.S., UK, Canada, Germany, France, Sweden, Austria, Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, Australia, and New Zealand, making it Coolio's most successful single ever.
On #1 was TLC again, they had two songs on the Billboard chart this date. "Creep" was TLC's first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100, and the first single from their second album, CrazySexyCool. It remained at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks, and became the second best-selling single of 1995, behind Madonna's "Take a Bow". TLC won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance. Congrats!
