Remember This?

It's Lou Bega or David Lubega which is his real name. He is an Italo-German and also Ugandan musician famous for his song "Mambo No. 5". I would call him a "one hit wonder. "Mambo nr 5" is a remake of the Perez Prado instrumental from 1952. Bega added his own words to the song and sampled the original version extensively.

This was his first single and became an instant worldwide hit charting at #1 in most European countries including Germany, UK and France and at #3 in the United States. In France "Mambo No. 5" spent twenty weeks at #1, which is an unbroken record to date!! It was also used by the British television broadcaster, Channel 4 for their coverage of Test Match cricket between 1999 and 2005.

On July 19, 1999 he released the album A Little Bit of Mambo. It peaked at #3 in the USA. In Germany, Bega's native country, it also peaked at #3. In the UK the album peaked only at #50. A Little Bit of Mambo peaked at #1 in the album charts of Austria, Canada, Finland, Hungary, the Middle East, Portugal, and Switzerland. The second single, "I Got a Girl", charted well entering the Top 10 in some European countries including France, Finland and Belgium.

Bega's second studio album "Ladies and Gentlemen# was released on May 28, 2001. Neither, the album nor the singles attained the great commercial success of A Little Bit of Mambo.

His third studio album, Lounatic, was released on May 10, 2005. The first single released was "Bachata" followed by "You Wanna Be Americano" and "Conchita". But none of them was a sucsess....

Remember This?

Evanescence is an American rock band founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995 by singer/pianist Amy Lee♥ and guitarist Ben Moody.

After recording two private EPs and a demo CD named Origin, with the help of Bigwig Enterprises in 2000, the band released their first full-length album, Fallen, on Wind-up Records in 2003. Fallen sold more than 15 million copies worldwide and helped the band win two Grammy Awards. In 2006, the band released their second studio album, The Open Door, which sold more than four million copies.

The band has suffered several line-up changes, including co-founder Moody leaving mid-tour in 2003, bassist Will Boyd in mid-2006, followed by guitarist John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray in 2007. The later two of the changes ultimately led the band to be on hiatus with only temporary replacements sought in order for the band to finish touring.

Evanescence's major label debut single "Bring Me to Life" (above), which features guest vocals from Paul McCoy of 12 Stones, was a global hit for the band and reached #5 on the American Billboard Hot 100. It provided Evanescence with their first UK #1 listing, the song also became the official theme for WWE No Way Out 2003. The equally popular "My Immortal" peaked at #7 in the U.S. and UK charts, and both songs were featured in the soundtrack for the action movie Daredevil.

LeToya - "Not Anymore" (Video Premiere)

"Not Anymore" is a song by American R&B singer LeToya Luckett. It was written by Ne-Yo and it was produced by Bei Maejor for her second solo album, "Lady Love".

Letoya is the old member of Destiny's Child. In 1999, the group released their second album, The Writing's on the Wall. The album became one of the biggest selling albums released by a female group, and was certified eight times platinum in the USA. The album spawned four hit singles: "Bills, Bills, Bills", "Bug a Boo", "Say My Name" and "Jumpin' Jumpin'".

In late 1999, in the midst of the group's rising success, Luckett and Roberson sent a letter to their management stating they wanted their own manager because of the increasing lack of communication from the group's manager Mathew Knowles (who is also Beyoncé Knowles' father). The pair said they never wanted to fire Knowles, but they did want to secure outside management to represent them fairly. Soon after, Luckett and Roberson found themselves on the outs with Knowles family and the group they helped create. When the "Say My Name" music video debuted in February 2000, they were shocked to find themselves replaced by two new members, Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin... remember the drama? If you can't remember Letoya in the group I posted the first hit single for Destiny's Child: "No, no, no".
